Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger - Little Petits Fours

I have had such a busy week...........absolutely no time for crafting.
But last night, I was able to sit down and make a card for Moxie Fab's challenge.
I love the pretty pinks in the image, and the slightly shabby flowers.

I have kept it quite clean and simple for me.

I used the Cuttlebug Embossing Folder - Distress Stripes for the background.

*Cuttlebug A2 Embossing Folder DISTRESSED STRIPES Provo Craft 37-1644

The stripes are an old Hero Arts stamp - Background stripes

The flower is made with the Spellbinders Rose Creations Die.
I have used Distress Ink Markers to colour the flower.

The sentiment is from the Hero Arts set Everyday Sayings CL342

For the centre of the flower I have used a few small seed beads.
The card is finished off with three Rhinestones.
I am always completely amazed how these tiny elements do SO much on a card.
For my eye, they repeat rounded shapes on a small scale, and they kind of hap-hazardly, frame and enhance the focal point.

See what you think.
Enjoy!

Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger - Wake-up call Card 2

This is my second card for the Moxie Fab challenge.
When I have all the bits and pieces from a project lying on my work desk, I am sometimes sparked into making a second card.
I like the elements in this card.
I hand cut the coffee cup, my second in two weeks, so I am becoming quite proficient.

It is 2am in the morning here in NZ ( I am a night owl) so I have used a daylight lamp to take the photo. It's a tad grey, so a better photo may be taken in the morning.

I have used a Spellbinders scalloped frame to cut the blue.
The Cuttlebug Olivia alphabet die set was used for the 'Café'. It needs a 'grave' or 'acute' on the 'e'. Going back 40 years to school French so I may be way off with names here.
The circle is stamped with the Hero Arts Ledger Cling Stamp (CG138) .
I thought it looked like a page in the wee order books the café staff carry, and the 'coffee break' looks like a hand written note on the page.
This sentiment stamp comes from the same Fiskers stamp set I used on the first card.
The spots on the cup are the negative cuts from an alphabet die.
The coffee 'Steam' is cut using the Papertrey Ink Ric Rac die in the same way as it was used on Card 1.
The woven trim looks like the ties on some café aprons so thought it was perfect.
The edges of all the pieces are inked in black to make them stand away from the white card, and each other. I am amazed how this 'crisps' up the whole design.

So I think I should wander off to bed now.
It is absolutely pouring with rain here. Earlier in the night we had lots of thunder, so I raced round the house turning off computers, and pulling appliance plugs from the wall.

Night to all.

Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger - Wake-up call

Once again, Moxie Fab has an image to challenge :-)
I thought I would approach 'time for coffee' from a wardrobe point of view.

I used three stamps from the Fiskars Girlfriends - 12-8909 Clear Rubber Acrylic Cling Stamp Set.

The wavy trim is from Papertrey Ink Their Ric Rac border die.
To cut the thin black trim, I cut the trim full width, then I repositioned, and taped the die over half the cut trim.

'... Coffee' is die cut from the Memory Box PARKER LOWER ALPHABET SET Craft DIE 98363

Each stamp got a tiny bit of bling. Click on the images, they are links to products.

That's it for now. Call again soon!

Jacqueline's Grid-Tag card Challenge

Today I have made two cards for Jacqueline's Challenge on the Hero Arts Flickr Pool
See the challenge cards, including Jacqueline's two inspiration cards, HERE .
I am one of many, many card makers who admire Jacqueline's style.
Her cards are very recognizable for their beauty.
See her blog Jacqueline's Craft Nest
These tag cards are my favorite so I had to join in the challenge.

I have used designer papers from My Minds Eye Indie Chick - Saffron to make both cards.
It was very hard to cut into these delicious little treasures. I quite like just owning them and thumbing through them occasionally. LOL
Most of the stamps used on the tags are from Hero Arts. The stamped '36' is an old New Zealand Post Office stamp. I don't know what they were used for but I have several.
If I have a kiwi visitor who knows what they were used for, please let me know in the comments. Thanks in advance.
The die cut letters are Memory Box. I like the plain and simple lines of this alphabet.
The ribbon is threaded through two slots punched with this punch.

The print stamped in behind the tags is an old Hero Arts stamp  Thanks stamp G2679

For this card I have used an image purchased from Etsy. (two girls)
The paper in behind the tags is a page from an old Encylopedia.

The tag reinforcers are from a 1/2" circle punch.
The middle hole is punched out with my trusty Japanese hole punch.

Moxie Fabs - Tuesday Trigger : Magical Magnolias - Card 2

I decided to make another card for Moxie Fabs Magical Magnolias challenge because I really enjoyed working with these colors on my first card.

I used the Hero Arts Floral Die and Stamp set (65776). I love the strong, stylized flowers and flourishes in this set.

To anchor the flowers I used the Papertrey Inks hexagon die.
I  used Versamagic Chalk inks (I wanted some of the white from the card stock to show through) to randomly ink an A2 sized piece of card with the colors from the challenge image.
I then die cut the piece of card with the hexagon die.
The hexagons were arranged across the card in a sort of graduated flow of color.

The butterfly is the smallest butterfly from Hero Arts Antique Flowers and Butterflies Die and stamp set. (657773)

Moxie Fabs - Tuesday Trigger : Magical Magnolias

This is such a beautiful image, so soft and pretty.
Why then, did I choose to go hard edge using only the colours from the image??
Because .........I have just watched the most inspiring technique from Jennifer McGuire.
A video made for Simon Says Stamp using the March kit.
See HERE.
It totally takes the guess work out of stamp placement for multiple images. Genius!!
Thank you Jennifer.
She has masked on her video, but I wanted a 'seeing through', snapshot, sort of look.

Sometimes when I am crafting, I have my laptop playing continuous technique videos.
They just run one to the next. Try Jennifer McGuire or  Papertrey Ink - Make it Monday.
I am sure there are other clever crafters I am yet to discover.

Anyhoo!! Here is the card I made, inspired by both Jennifer, and Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger.

I have coloured the flowers with Distress Markers and the odd Tombow.
The sentiment is black embossed. I swiped a moist towelette over the card to reduce ink 'grab', then swooshed it with Memento pink

Sometimes, I am really surprised at the stamp sets I have hiding away in dark corners.
Little clear stamps, waiting patiently for me to see their potential.
Unfortunately, when earlier sets were purchased, I had no idea I would eventually have a blog, so keeping manufactures details was not important. :-(
I have spent over an hour finding their info and I am glad to say, they are still current, or at least able to be purchased!!
In case you are interested :-)

Runway Inspired Challenge ric#33 - Red Valentino Card 2

I decided to make a second card for this challenge using the same Magenta stamp I had used for the first card.
I used pastels on the flowers to keep them softly coloured.

The butterfly is from the Hero Arts Antique Flowers and Butterflies, Die and Stamp set (657773)
I punched the holes in the yellow butterfly with a hand punch (plier variety - not sure what they are officially called)

Until next time.

The Paper Players Challenge #140 - Theme from Nance

It's 3pm in the morning and I have just finished my card. I have taken a photo with a daylight lamp but it is a bit green, and a little washed out, so I will re-photo in the morning.
The repurposed or recycled item on the card is the doily, or more accurately, part of a doily.
It was given to me by a friend who picked up at a market.

Runway Inspired Challenge ric#33 - Red Valentino

Hi everyone. Thanks for stopping by.

The Runway Inspired Challenge Blog has such a wonderful image this week. The colors and textures are wonderful.

I liked the model in gorgeous yellow, but I really loved the background, so wanted to interpret it in some way.
I have used a stamp from Magenta called Rose Design. Magenta has the most delicious flower stamps.

We are coming into flu season here in New Zealand. The last few nights I have been serenaded to sleep (NOT) with the wonderful sound of my husband coughing!!
I have been spending LOTS of time downstairs with my paper Valium. (not vellum!)
The rings are starting to show under the eyes. :-(
Hope you are fairing better.
Blessings.

The Play Date Cafe {Au} Natural with Jenni Bowlin Studio 176

This is my first Challenge with The Play Date Cafe. I loved the image colors.
I decided on a coffee theme and a slightly Shabby approach.
I don't have a coffee cup die so came up with a way of making a cup and saucer using Oval Spellbinders dies.

This is my take on the challenge.

I used Lite Steam-a-Seam 2 to apply the linen to the card.
For those who don't know the product, it is a heat fusible, glue web used to attach applique to fabric. It works wonderfully on paper too.
Just apply a piece slightly bigger than you need to the back of the fabric with a brief press with an iron. Cut out your shape, remove the paper, and iron it on to the card.

The cup and saucer

Thanks for dropping in!
