Retro Influences in the Play Date Cafe

I absolutely love the story board the Play Date Café created for this challenge.
The colors are divine!
I went very CAS for me ( I don't think the red bow is CAS :-), influenced by the colors more than the shapes.
Isn't the blood red amazing.
This card was influenced by Jacqueline's CAS Masculine card as seen here:-

I have used a Hero Arts wood stamp Silhouette Burst (H5312) for the flowers.
And Hero Arts Moments Background (E3019) for the sentiment.

Call again soon.

Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger - Right On Target

I was a little flummoxed when I saw the image this week. All those colors!!
Then, for some reason, a fairisle jumper I wore in the seventies came to mind and inspired the first card.

I have used a PTI Clear Stamp (Background Basics - Chevron Stripes) with many Memento colors for the chevrons. The 'many' is a Quickutz Lollipop Alphabet die and the 'Thanks' is a Hero Arts Sentiment stamp.(Thank a Bunch CL663)
Then I thought, how would I interpret the image as a CAS card. I made a second card to challenge myself.

The bars are stamped with a Hero Arts stamp (Little Greeting Background C1973) made for shadow inks, remember those. I love the irregular edges. I stamped off some of the ink on scrap paper, then stamped the card. It gave a wonderful blotchy effect. The sentiment is also Hero Arts ( Truly Appreciated CL380)

Until next time.
Thanks for calling.

Paper Players #145 - Colors from Jaydee

When I saw these colors the first thing that came to mind for me was a damask Die from Quickutz.
I think the strong design suits the strong colors.

Thanks for visiting.

Runway Inspired Challenge - ric#35 - Miu Miu

This was such a wonderful image to work with. I made one card, then another, then......well, I made four cards. I think it was the pink polka dots in the scarf and the blue in the bag..........they mesmerised me.:-)

I have put them in order of my pick as best for the challenge appearing first.

The first two use the pocket flap shape and the second has the button tab influence.

I loved this challenge.

Etched Flowers - Something pretty

Some stamping days are spent exploring new stamps without a particular end need in mind.
Yesterday I spent time stamping with my new Hero Arts Etched Flowers (CG430).
This card was the outcome.

Stamping the black outline was a breeze, but colouring the flowers was another story.
I made several attempts before I settled on using Distress inks as water colour for the base, then strengthening up the dark areas with Distress markers.
I wanted to leave some of the white to show through so the flowers sparkle.
I think I need Copics!! What do you think?
I wanted to arrange the flowers myself so I cut them apart.

I also stamped the two papers used on the card.
Using Distress ink, I stamped Hero Arts Classic Fabric Design (CG245) Shabby Shutters on pale green card and Hero Arts Swiss Dots (CG139) with Mustard Seed on White card.
They looked a bit strong so once they were dry I washed over them both with white Distress Stain.
This product is amazing, it knocks back the colour in a very gentle and even way.

I added stitching, pearls and some twine to embellish.

Off to do some work.
Until next time.

Paper Players #144:Mother's Day Theme from Anne Marie

It is pouring with rain here in Auckland, New Zealand. Winter is setting in, and as temperatures get colder, our cat Pinty seeks out any source of heat. Last night, after months of sleeping in her basket, she decided under the covers with us was the place to be. I don't mind her being there, but with her contented purring, and my husband's snoring it was all a bit much. I found myself thinking of stamps and ink. I eventually fell asleep with this card partially formed in my mind.

To Make the card, I first stamped the flowers in two soft blues, on the left hand side of the card, using the two small flower stamps from the Hero Arts Layered Flowers Set (CL496).
I then attached a strip of fine striped Black and white paper over the edge of the stamping.
The tag is cut from a soft blue DP using a MFT tag die.
The flowers are stamped and embossed using the same flower stamps used on the side of the card.
The 'mom' (in New Zealand we would say 'mum') was cut in Bazzill using the MFT High-rise alphabet die. I lightly brushed a darker ink over the letters so the Bazzill colour showed through.
I stamped 'You're Special' using a stamp from a Hero Arts sentiment set, Find Joy (CL407)
I punched a hole in the tag and tied a piece of twine in a bow.
The tag is mounted on the card with foam squares.
I finished with a few pearls.
I love the soft colours on the card.
